The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received a telephone call from South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa. They discussed the latest developments in the Libyan crisis.

The two leaders discussed the African role in resolving the conflict, especially given that Ramaphosa holds the chair for the African Union in its current session.

Ramaphosa emphasized the LNA’s central role in combating terrorism, maintaining the rule of law, and rejecting foreign interference. He also congratulated Haftar for the important step of signing the ceasefire agreement.

The South African President stated that this is evidence that the LNA’s General Command is a professional and disciplined military institution.
