The Foreign Ministry of Libya’s Interim Government announced the reopening of the Palestinian Consulate in Benghazi. This was in the presence of the Palestinian Consul General in Libya, Ahmed Jarrar.

A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the inauguration of the new Consulate’s headquarters. “The delegation affirmed their happiness at the resumption of consular work, in service to the members of the Palestinian community,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

“We express the Libyan people’s faith in the just cause of the Palestinian people to recover their rights, liberate their land, and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement added.

The Consul expressed his joy with “all the facilities provided by the ministry in order for the consulate to resume its work in a positive climate.” He stressed the depth of ties between the Palestinian and Libyan people. In 2014, the Palestinian Embassy in Tripoli had closed “for security reasons.”
