The Minister of Finance of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), Faraj Boumtari, has said on Sunday that a joint memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Finance and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the presence of the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland.

On his Twitter account, Boumtari added that this agreement will strengthen cooperation and partnership between the two signatories by enabling the Ministry of Finance to benefit from USAID’s extensive experience in improving public money management and implementing economic reforms in Libya.

The minister said, “We will work on the basis of shared values aimed at strengthening the foundations of a unified Libyan state by obtaining technical support and various consultations for the benefit of the ministry and its affiliated bodies.”

Boumtari concluded: “In the Ministry of Finance, we aim to sign such agreements to develop the financial performance of the state in a way that enhances development projects, achieves prosperity for the Libyan people and develops Libya’s ability to address financial instability, consolidate transparency and fight corruption.”
