Benghazi is concluding the first Libyan Dental Technology Conference 2026 on Tuesday, bringing together leading academics, researchers and dental specialists from Libya and abroad to discuss the latest developments in dental technology and scientific research.
According to the Libyan News Agency (LANA), the two-day event has attracted broad participation from universities, research institutions and industry professionals, alongside an accompanying exhibition featuring specialised dental laboratories and companies.
Abdulhalim Raqas, Chairman of the conference’s Preparatory Committee and Head of the Dental Technology Department at the Benghazi Higher Institute of Medical Technology, said the conference includes scientific contributions from Jordan and a series of practical workshops organised in cooperation with local and international universities.
He added that the scientific programme features more than 40 research papers, in addition to scientific posters presented by students, graduates, dentists and dental technologists. The conference aims to promote scientific research, encourage knowledge exchange and strengthen professional development within Libya’s dental technology sector.
International lecturer Firas Dahbour, a member of the global DTG Group, delivered two presentations highlighting the “4×4” dental technology technique, which he developed in his laboratory and has since been adopted by international companies.
Dahbour also shared his professional experience in dental technology and conducted a live practical demonstration during the conference’s accompanying activities, offering participants an opportunity to observe advanced laboratory techniques.
Meanwhile, Ashraf Al-Shaeri, Director of the Scientific Affairs Office at the Benghazi Higher Institute of Medical Technology and a member of the conference’s Scientific Committee, said the committee supervised every stage of the scientific programme, including reviewing research papers and preparing the conference agenda.
He said the event is designed to enhance the quality of education, research and professional training in dental technology while strengthening cooperation between Libyan institutions and international experts.
Organisers described the conference as an important step towards advancing dental technology education and supporting innovation in Libya’s healthcare sector through greater scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange.
