On Monday the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), stated that 15 transmission towers on the Jihad line, and an estimated 1,100 meters of cables were stolen in Zliten.

The company explained that the theft caused the loss of power to five electricity transformers, at the city’s distribution department.

The company also reported that around 450 meters of cables were stolen from the Al-Muaskar line, at the Jafara Distribution Department. The company claimed that the theft of electricity cables continue without any action by the authorities.

GECOL also reported that the hours for launching loads on Monday, were to be four hours.

Protesters, notables, elders, and civil society organizations protested in front of the power station in the Rabiana area, against the six months of daily electricity cuts. The protesters held GECOL fully responsible for the management of the Tripoli, and Benghazi branches, and the power cuts.
