Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio called on the Group of Seven major industrialized countries (G7), to cooperate in creating new opportunities for economic investments that would help the Libyan people, and consolidate stability in the war-torn country.

Di Maio added that Italian companies will begin building a highway extending from the Tunisian border to the Egyptian border, building Tripoli International Airport, and rebuilding Benghazi’s Benina International Airport. He indicated that the G7 meeting will also discuss the issue of illegal migration from Libya.

He stressed that Rome had received guarantees of cooperation on migration flows from Libya, which would allow them to manage the phenomenon.
