Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez arrived in Tripoli on Thursday, accompanied by his Foreign Minister, Arancha González Laya, and a delegation of Spanish businessmen. The Spanish Premier will also reopen the Spanish Embassy in Tripoli.

The reopening of the embassy comes as part of the “support for the transition and reconstruction process in Libya,” Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reported on Wednesday. It added that this phase “represents an investment opportunity for Spanish companies in Libya.”

Sanchez travelled to Libya with representatives from eight Spanish companies: Repsol, Indra, Navantia, Airtek, Triarena, IDOM, IMO, and HM Hospitals.

The Spanish PM is due to hold a meeting with his Libyan counterpart Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, and Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi.
