Libya & Algeria Plans to Increase Trade Volume to $3 Billion

On Tuesday, Algerian Trade Minister, Kamel Rezig said that Algeria and Libya intend to increase the volume of trade exchange to $3 billion in the next few years.

During an assessment meeting of the Algerian-Libyan Forum held last May, Rezig described the trade between the two countries as “weak”, adding that they will work on removing all obstacles to facilitate import and export operations.

The Algerian Minister indicated that the reopening of the “Dibdab-Ghadames” border crossing would create a commercial dynamic that would revive economic and commercial activities in the region.

Rezig called for reopening the maritime line linking the two countries, in order to facilitate the transportation of goods to increase the volume of trade. He pointed out that the Algerian-Libyan forum culminated in the establishment of trade, economic, and investment relations between several companies in various fields.

Moreover, Rezig pledged that Algiers will work to overcome all difficulties facing economic actors in the two countries.
