On Wednesday, Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush held a telephone conversation with her Algerian counterpart, Ramtane Lamamra, during which they discussed the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Libyan crises.

During the talks, they stated that a peaceful settlement would honour the aspirations of the Libyan people, as well as preserve the independence and territorial integrity of the North African country.

Lamamra said in a tweet on Wednesday that he received a telephone call from his Libyan counterpart, in which they both expressed satisfaction with the distinguished level of fraternal bilateral relations.

“We exchanged views on the prospects for a peaceful solution in Libya that fulfils the aspirations of the Libyan people, and preserves the independence and territorial integrity of their country,” the tweet read.

Lamamra noted in a separate tweet that he had also held a telephone call with Niger’s Foreign Minister, Hassumi Masoudou, where he reviewed the latest developments in the region, in particular, the Libyan crisis. This included ways to enhance the role of neighbouring countries in accompanying the Libyans to reach a comprehensive and peaceful solution, away from foreign interference.
