Dr. Fawzi Bomeriz, the Minister of Education for Libya’s Interim Government, instructed all public and private higher education institutions to remain closed until the 30th of May 2020, due to COVID-19.

Dr. Bomeriz stated that examinations would begin on the 31st of May, in conjunction with the reopening of the universities, and results would be announced from September 1, 2020.

This decision is part of the precautionary measures taken by the Interim Government to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak.

Libya is ranked 168th out of 195 countries in terms of how well prepared it is to face the pandemic by the Global Health Security Index.

The authorities, knowing full well that the country is not capable of successfully dealing with an outbreak, have taken a series of stringent measures to avoid an outbreak.
