Egypt is preparing to send Libya essential food commodities and medical supplies through the recently created shipping route between the ports of Damietta and Tobruk.

The move comes in order to cover the needs of the local population, during the holy month of Ramadan, Ibrahim Al-Jarari, the Head of the Libyan-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce and Industry declared Wednesday.

Libya had received on the 9th of April, a shipment of 44 containers filled with healthcare and sanitation materials through this shipping route. Al-Jarari stated that more shipments of food, medical supplies, fresh produce, and other basic goods are expected.

The land borders between the two nations were sealed and a shipping route was created due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Al-Jarari thanked his Egyptian counterpart for providing these goods during this difficult period.
