US Ambassador Reiterates Support for GNA

On Wednesday, US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland reiterated the United States’ position that the Libyan Political Agreement and its associated institutions, including the Government of National Accord (GNA), were the sole internationally recognized government of Libya during its political transition.

The Ambassador’s remarks came during a phone call with GNA Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj during which the US official stressed that the path to dialogue should remain open to all “responsible Libyan parties that were prepared to put down their weapons, reject foreign interference, and come together through exclusively political means to bring an end to this conflict.”
