Sources from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that a video conference has been scheduled for tomorrow, May 13, 2020, to follow up on what was agreed during the Berlin conference on Libya.

According to Italian news agency “Aki”, sources from the Ministry claimed that “the Libyan file was still a priority for Italy”.

Following a meeting with Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashaga of the Government of National Accord, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio stressed “Italy’s utmost commitment to a political solution to the Libyan crisis, starting with the full implementation of the outcomes of the Berlin Conference”.

“We repeat our call to respect the truce and to the parties’ commitment to the political track, which was laid out in Berlin,” Di Maio said, announcing his country’s participation in the first ministerial meeting to follow up on the Berlin Conference.

He added that Italy was ready “to play its role, and host the next meeting at the technical level”.
