On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the current situation in Libya and Syria.

According to press reports, the two expressed their mutual concerns over the escalation of violence in Libya.

They also stressed the need for an indefinite truce and inter-Libyan dialogue based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and approved by UN Security Council resolution 2510.

The Presidents continued to exchange views on the current situation in Syria.

They both agreed to intensify joint efforts to implement the Russian-Turkish agreements on the Idlib de-escalation zone, including the Additional Protocol to the Sochi Memorandum of 17 September 2018, adopted in Moscow on 5 March 2020.

Further cooperation between the two countries was also discussed, including medical treatments and vaccine development in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
