On Tuesday, Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 68.

In a statement, the NCDC said that it had received 200 suspected samples, 197 of which tested negative for the virus.

Libya has recorded 68 cases of Coronavirus since the beginning of the global pandemic, with 33 active cases under medical observation, 35 successful recoveries and 3 deaths.

On Sunday, the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) renewed its curfew for a further 10 days in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.

The head of the NCDC, Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, announced that the Centre was conducting a community-based epidemiological survey to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 in the country.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus. Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
