US Representative To UN Calls For Ceasefire in Libya

US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Kraft called on warring parties in Libya to agree to a ceasefire and return to political dialogue as per the outcomes of the Berlin Conference.

Kraft stressed the need to bring an end to the supply of arms and foreign fighters to Libya.

The current conflict in Libya is being fought between the Libyan National Army (LNA), based in the east of the country, and forces aligned to the UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) based in Tripoli.

The country has been marred by internal conflict since a security and political vacuum emerged after the fall of Muammer Gaddafi in 2011.
