On Monday, a total of eleven members of the House of Representatives in Tobruk expressed their support for the initiative of President of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Aqeela Saleh to solve the Libyan crisis.

Parliamentarians called for accepting the initiative without tampering with its transitional philosophy that corrupted political settlements in the past in Libya.

On Saturday evening, Saleh renewed the call for the formation of a new presidential council. This Council would be formed under the auspices of the UN and consist of a chairman and two deputies to administer Libya’s three historical regions of Tripolitania, Barqa, and Fezzan.

The initiative will include a proposal to form a national government, headed by someone from outside the Presidential Council.

On May 5, Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj welcomed all political initiatives calling for peaceful solutions to the Libyan crisis away from the fighting, calling on all parties to resume political dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations.
