On Thursday, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HOR), Ageela Saleh, called on Germany to play a role in stopping the crimes that are allegedly occuring in the city of Tarhuna.

During a meeting with German Ambassador to Libya Oliver Owcza, Saleh said that Germany should play a fundamental role in implementing the outcomes of the Berlin Conference.

He stressed the need for a ceasefire and to support the political process in line with his own political roadmap and the ‘Cairo Declaration’.

The ‘Cairo Declaration’ is an initiative that was launched by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi last Saturday. It seeks to resolve the conflict in Libya and resume the political process.

Saleh also stressed the necessity of bringing an end to Turkish military intervention. He claimed that Libyan sovereignty must be protected and that the flow of foreign fighters and extremists to Libya should cease.
