Libya and Philippines Working On Repatriating Nationals

Libya and the Philippines are working closely together to repatriate their respective nationals.

As part of the preparations, 23 Libyan nationals have undergone COVID-19 testing with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Philippines National Red Cross (PRC).

This follows the testing of 39 Filipinos by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in Tripoli.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Tripoli and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are leading
this joint effort to reunite Filipinos in Libya and Libyans in the Philippines with their families.

The Filipino nationals in Tripoli are now waiting to board a chartered Libyan Airlines flight to Tunisia.

They will then board a special Philippine Airlines flight to the Philippines, alongside other Filipinos who had been stranded in Algeria and Tunisia.

The special flight from Tripoli was a reciprocal gesture with the Philippine Government, who provided travel
for 20 Libyan nationals from Manila.
