Ageela Saleh, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, has made a strong call for reconciliation and the mending of rifts among Libyans. He emphasized the importance of preserving national integrity and defense.

Speaking during a visit to Derna alongside Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Saleh said: “We must all support those who engage in reconciliation and those who sacrifice their comfort and health to mend divisions and repair relationships.”

Saleh highlighted: “Securing the safety of the nation is a sacred duty on every individual or group, necessitating a concerted effort with full vigilance, and monitoring anything that affects the security and sovereignty of the nation from any aggressor.”

Saleh condemned anyone who betrays their country as cursed, referring to the collective efforts of the Libyan government under Prime Minister Osama Hammad during this period.

“There are commendable efforts made by Prime Minister Osama Hammad’s government to meet the needs of citizens, provide quality healthcare, and support reconstruction and stability efforts,” stated Saleh.

The Speaker of the Parliament also called for standing against opportunism, sedition, and the tarnishing of loyal citizens, saying, “I call for a stand against opportunism, sedition, and the defamation of the nation’s faithful sons.”

Saleh continued: “Humanity is the direction and drive of development. I urge citizens to support the Development and Support Fund to achieve the desired development in a short time to alleviate the effects of the flood and restore Derna and all cities affected by the flood to the state every honorable citizen wishes for. Development and reconstruction will reach all of Libya.”

Saleh also extended his congratulations to Field Marshal Haftar on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, expressing, “I extend my congratulations and appreciation on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to my dear brother, the commander of the Libyan army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who sacrifices his health, comfort, and life for the nation, its soil, the dignity of its people, and restoring its prestige.”

Saleh added, “Salutes to our brave army and our youth, whose sacrifices have achieved security and stability.” He urged Libyans to be cautious of discord and division, calling for unity.

“To all Libyans, beware of discord and differences, diverging opinions and the scattering of opinions, and be one hand. The path of truth is unity, and the path of discord is the destiny of division and strife. I call you to consult, bury the hatchet, and beware of injustice,” noting that forgiveness and reconciliation are principles of Islam and the character of the Prophet Muhammad.
