The Libyan Football Federation has confirmed receiving approval from FIFA to host a six-team tournament in Italy. The Federation announced it has set a roadmap for this crucial round.

The federation addressed those it described as “trend seekers” and skeptics of the Federation’s credibility by stating, “The road to Rome goes through FIFA, and their message is ‘Welcome to the land of the Romans’.”

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has long been striving to bring stability and progress to Libyan football, despite the ongoing challenges in the country. Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been engulfed in political and social turmoil, affecting all aspects of life, including sports. The football infrastructure in Libya has suffered significantly, with many local clubs struggling to maintain operations and participate in international competitions.

In recent years, the LFF has focused on revitalizing the sport, improving facilities, and providing opportunities for players to compete at higher levels. Hosting a significant tournament like the six-team league in Italy is part of this broader effort. By moving the tournament abroad, the LFF aims to ensure the safety and security of the players and officials while also gaining international exposure and experience.

FIFA’s approval of the tournament is a major milestone for Libyan football, showcasing the Federation’s efforts to align with international standards and practices. It also highlights FIFA’s support for the development of football in regions facing difficulties.

The tournament in Italy will not only provide a competitive platform for Libyan teams but also foster a sense of unity and hope among the Libyan people, demonstrating the unifying power of sports.
