Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Jarrad confirmed on Thursday that Algeria was ready, willing and able to host the Libyan National Reconciliation Conference expected to be held in July 2020.

Jarred spoke on the occasion of the opening of the first meeting of the African Union Contact Group on Libya, which was held in the city of Oyo in the Republic of the Congo.

“I have the honor to announce Algeria’s readiness to host the reconciliation conference between the brothers in Libya, to be held next July, under the auspices of the African Union and with the contribution of the United Nations,” he told the gathering.

Jarrad, who represented Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the meeting, said that his country pledges to provide all necessary facilities and create the necessary conditions for the success of the conference, according to Algeria’s news agency.

Jarrad renewed Algeria’s firm determination to continue its contribution to solving the crisis in Libya. He underscored the need to respect Libya’s sovereignty and independence by ensuring that Libyans themselves were responsible for supervising the country’s political dialogue.
