On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned against illegitimate foreign intervention in Libya’s conflict.
During a telephone call with his British counterpart, Dominic Raab, he said that Egypt wished to see an end to the Libyan crisis and work towards a comprehensive political solution.
Shourkry also praised the positive relationship between Egypt and the United Kingdom. He emphasized that Egypt has attached top priority to enhancing cooperation with the UK.
The two stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to curb the outbreak of COVID-19 and reduce its economic and social repercussions.
In the same context, Shoukry appreciated Britain’s hosting of the Global Vaccine Summit in June 2020, which had witnessed the participation of President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi.
The summit, hosted by the UK and attended by heads of governments and business leaders via Zoom, aims to raise $7.4bn (€6.60bn) in funding for upcoming vaccine programmes.
