The Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Bogadoum warned of “the seriousness of the deteriorating situation in Libya and its implications for the security of the region”.

A statement issued by the Algerian Foreign Ministry on Wednsday confirmed that during the UN Security Council meeting on Libya Bogadoum called on all concerned regional and international parties to intensify efforts in order to find a solution to the crisis.

This should ensure the “unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Libya.”

He also stressed the Algerian approach, which has the acceptance of all Libyan parties, and is based on ending the bloodshed.

He urged “the brothers in Libya to pursue the option of dialogue as the only way to find a political solution to the crisis, in accordance with international legitimacy and the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, with full respect to the will of the Libyan people”.

Bogadoum’s participation in this meeting came at the invitation of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
