The General Syndicate of Sports Media organised the fourth edition of the Libyan Premier League Football Awards ceremony for the 2023-2024 season today, Saturday, with the event being covered by the Libyan News Agency.

During the ceremony, Al-Nasr’s coach, Osama Al-Hamadi, was honored with the Best Coach award, while Al-Nasr’s goalkeeper, Jawad Rizq, won the Best Goalkeeper award. The Best Defender award went to Al-Nasr’s defender, Ali Salama.

Ahmad Krwa’a of Al-Ahli Tripoli received the Best Forward award, while the Best Midfielder award was claimed by Al-Hilal’s Faisal Al-Badri. The Best Young Player award went to Al-Swehli’s emerging talent, Osama Al-Shuraimi.

Hossam Al-Tarhouni, commentator for Libya Sports Channel, was awarded Best Sports Commentator, and international referee Naseeb Al-Hawari took home the Best Referee award.

In an interview with the Libyan News Agency, Nasr Al-Mahdawi, Chairman of the High Committee for the Award, explained that the syndicate decided to name former international player Fawzi Al-Issaoui as the honorary president for this edition. He mentioned that the evaluation committee began its work a month ago and successfully selected the winners for the seven individual awards, which include Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder, Best Forward, Best Young Player under 23, Best Referee, and Best Coach.

Al-Mahdawi emphasised that the selection process adhered to internationally recognised criteria and highlighted the successful organisation of this year’s edition.

During the ceremony, the Tripoli branch of the syndicate announced that it would host the fifth edition of the awards next year. The event was attended by the heads of local clubs, representatives from the sports media syndicates in Benghazi, Ajdabiya, Gharyan, and Tripoli, as well as several former players and sports enthusiasts.

It’s noteworthy that the first edition of the ceremony was held in Tripoli, with former Al-Madina player Nouri Al-Sari serving as the honorary president. Benghazi hosted the second edition, with international player Wanis Khair as the honorary president, while Tripoli hosted the third edition, with international player Tarek Al-Taib serving as the honorary president.
