The Second Shoulder Surgery Conference for the Orthopedic Department was held on Friday at the Benghazi Medical Center, attracting participants from both within and outside Libya. The event brought together doctors from across Libyan cities as well as international visitors.
Mustafa Al-Fadhli, a consultant in the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the Medical Center, stated that the conference hosted guests from Canada, Egypt, and Turkey, alongside professors and physicians from various Libyan cities.
The two-day conference includes lectures, workshops, and live broadcasts of surgeries from the operating room to the lecture hall. Discussions will focus on advanced shoulder replacement surgeries and the latest arthroscopic techniques for shoulder surgeries, which have now been successfully introduced at the Benghazi Medical Center.
Libya has been in chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations.

Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges.
