CAF President Patrice Motsepe has pledged to take firm action if the Libyan Football Federation is found guilty of mistreating Nigeria’s national football team during their AFCON qualifier.
Motsepe highlighted CAF’s commitment to ensuring fair treatment for all visiting teams across Africa, emphasising that any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.
Motsepe confirmed that an official investigation into the incident is ongoing, with appropriate measures promised if any violations are identified.
He stressed that CAF is determined to address historical issues of unfair treatment during international matches, including incidents where teams face undue delays at airports or are subjected to questionable COVID-19 tests targeting key players.
While reflecting on broader problems across African football, Motsepe urged host nations to treat visiting teams with the same respect they expect in return.
He reiterated CAF’s commitment to reviewing existing regulations to promote fairness and ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.
