On Thursday, Libya’s permanent representative to the United Nations Taher Al-Sunni said that the UN Security Council had accepted Libya’s request for a special hearing by the Sanctions Committee and team of experts.

“The Security Council, headed by Germany with the support of several countries, responds to Libya’s request for a special hearing for the sanctions committee and team of experts”, Al-Sunni said in a statement on Twitter.

“This session is scheduled to be held at the end of the month in the presence of the countries whose name were mentioned in international reports and those involved in violating the arms embargo, attempting to smuggle oil, and other violations of Security Council resolutions,” Al-Sunni added.

Last Thursday, the Foreign Ministry of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) announced that it had submitted an official request to the Security Council to hold a session by the Sanctions Committee.
