Libya’s Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during an official visit to Turkey.

The meeting took place on Friday, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where Dbaiba is attending at Erdogan’s invitation.

According to a statement from the Government of National Unity (GNU), the talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Libya and Turkey. Both leaders explored opportunities to deepen strategic ties across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, defence, and trade.

The GNU added that Dbaiba and Erdogan also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern. The discussion included the evolving political situation in North Africa and the broader Mediterranean region.

The visit highlights ongoing efforts by the GNU to maintain strong international partnerships despite political uncertainty at home. Turkey remains a key ally of the Tripoli-based administration, providing support in security, development, and investment.

Dbaiba’s trip comes as part of broader diplomatic efforts by the GNU to reinforce Libya’s foreign relations and attract international cooperation. The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, now in its fourth edition, brings together global leaders, ministers, and policy experts to address pressing international challenges.

During his stay in Turkey, Dbaiba is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with heads of state, government officials, and prominent political figures attending the forum. These talks are aimed at enhancing Libya’s diplomatic presence and promoting its economic interests abroad.

Libyan-Turkish relations have grown significantly in recent years, particularly since the signing of key agreements on maritime boundaries and defence cooperation. Dbaiba’s visit is seen as another step towards reinforcing that partnership amid regional shifts.
