On Thursday, the Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgy Borisenko, expressed Moscow’s desire for Libya to enjoy full sovereignty.

In statements to Al-Arabiya, Borisenko said that Libya is going through a dark phase in its history. He then highlighted the importance of starting the peace process in Libya.

The Russian ambassador in Cairo confirmed that Russia does not have any forces on Libyan soil.
“There are no plans for Russia to have a military base in Libya,” he said.

Borisenko also urged the need to start a political dialogue to solve the crisis in Libya. He pointed out that Moscow is working to convince everyone, including Turkey, to find a solution.

“I understand the Egyptian concern about national security,” the Ambassador concluded in his statement.
