A Tunisian delegation representing the private medical sector arrived in Benghazi on Saturday to coordinate preparations for the first Libya-Tunisia Medical Forum, scheduled to take place in early December.

Speaking to the Libyan News Agency (LANA), the head of the Tunisian delegation, Yosra Al-Yazidi, said the visit aims to establish a professional platform for exchanging expertise and launching genuine partnerships between Libyan and Tunisian healthcare institutions.

For his part, Aboubakr Zakhama, President of Tunisia’s National Chamber of Private Clinics, emphasized the importance of cooperation in healthcare services, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and professional training. He underlined the need to localize medical services in Benghazi through unified partnerships between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Tarek Al-Nifer, President of the National Health Federation under the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts, noted that the meetings focused on strategic topics such as medical equipment production, pharmaceutical industries, professional training, and investment in healthcare. He stressed that these discussions serve the interests of Libyan patients and promote greater health integration between Tunisia and Libya.

Fouad Al-Awam, Director-General of the Exhibitions and Conferences Department at the Libyan General Authority for Exhibitions, confirmed that both sides reached preliminary understandings during the talks. He added that the Tunisian delegation will soon visit several healthcare institutions in Benghazi to further explore avenues for cooperation.

The upcoming Libya-Tunisia Medical Forum is expected to pave the way for deeper cross-border collaboration in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and medical education — strengthening Benghazi’s role as a regional hub for medical partnerships.
