Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), met on Sunday with a delegation of tribal elders and dignitaries from the Fezzan region at the Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar Military City. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Osama Hammad, Chief of General Staff General Khalid Haftar, and Belgassem Haftar, Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund.
During the meeting, Fezzan’s tribal representatives expressed their full support for the LNA’s efforts to safeguard national stability and security. They also reaffirmed their backing for Haftar’s initiatives aimed at promoting national reconciliation and unity among Libyans.
In turn, Haftar praised the historic and patriotic role of Fezzan’s tribes in defending Libya’s unity, stressing their continued importance in shaping a national movement capable of addressing the country’s political crisis. He underlined that any realistic solution must stem from the will of the Libyan people, not from external agendas or transitional arrangements.
In his speech, Haftar called for “a new national phase led by the people themselves,” asserting that citizens must reclaim their right to decide their future. “The exclusion of the Libyan people from determining their destiny has resulted in repeated and failed transitional stages,” he said. Haftar urged all institutions to submit to the will of the people through a nationwide movement led by national forces, tribal elders, and social leaders.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the LNA leadership to strengthen communication with Libya’s social components, particularly in the south, as part of a broader initiative to reinforce national unity, enhance stability, and accelerate development across the country.
