Libya’s National Development Agency has unveiled new details on the Sirte Gulf International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious aviation and infrastructure projects, designed to accommodate up to 3 million passengers per year.

According to the agency, the airport spans a total area of 9,350 square meters, making it a major national project aimed at strengthening Libya’s air transport network and positioning the city of Sirte as a central hub connecting the country’s east, west, north, and south.

The project includes a modern administrative building of 3,050 square meters, spread across three floors with an additional annex on the fourth. A VIP terminal, covering 882 square meters, will feature contemporary architecture and high-end facilities designed to meet international standards.

The airport’s main passenger terminal will occupy 950 square meters, offering efficient passenger flow and modern amenities. Additionally, a large parking area covering three hectares (30,000 square meters) will accommodate around 450 vehicles, ensuring accessibility and convenience for travelers.

The National Development Agency stated that the Sirte Gulf International Airport is a cornerstone project within its broader national infrastructure strategy, which focuses on modernization, sustainability, and improved connectivity. Once completed, the airport will play a vital role in facilitating economic growth, enhancing trade, and supporting domestic and international travel.

Officials emphasized that the airport is not only an aviation project but also a symbol of national recovery and modernization. By improving air connectivity, it will contribute to regional development and serve as a catalyst for tourism, investment, and logistics, reinforcing Sirte’s strategic position in Libya’s transportation network.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project in accordance with global aviation standards, ensuring safety, efficiency, and service excellence across all airport facilities.
