Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, met on Wednesday with a delegation of tribal elders, dignitaries, and community leaders from the city of Zintan at the Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar Military City.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Osama Hammad and Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Khaled Haftar, along with senior military officials.
The delegation expressed their full support for the Libyan Armed Forces and its leadership, praising the military’s role in maintaining security, stability, and national sovereignty. The elders commended the sacrifices made by Libyan soldiers and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the unity and integrity of the country.
Field Marshal Haftar warmly welcomed the Zintan elders, describing them as “pillars of national strength” and paying tribute to their historical role in defending Libya’s independence and unity. He emphasized that the people of Zintan have always been a cornerstone of stability and an essential force in preserving Libya’s social and political balance.
In his remarks, Haftar addressed the country’s ongoing political stalemate, stressing that the ultimate solution to Libya’s crisis lies in the hands of the Libyan people themselves. He said that the struggle for power and personal interests among political elites has become the greatest barrier to building an effective state.
Haftar called on citizens to reclaim their rights through a peaceful, nationwide movement that clearly expresses the will of the people and compels institutions to act in the public interest. He reaffirmed that the Libyan Armed Forces will guarantee the safety and freedom of the people as they pursue this peaceful change.
The meeting underscored the continued alliance between Libya’s military leadership and influential tribal leaders, both of whom play a central role in ensuring security, promoting unity, and guiding the country toward stability.
