Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), received a delegation of elders, sheikhs, and dignitaries from the city of Al-Zawiya at the Khalifa Haftar Military City. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Osama Hammad, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, and Interior Minister Issam Abu Zariba.

During the meeting, the elders expressed their appreciation for the leadership’s efforts to strengthen security and stability across Libya. They reaffirmed their full support for the armed forces and their commitment to preserving national unity and sovereignty.

Field Marshal Haftar welcomed the delegation, praising their patriotic stance and highlighting the importance of unity among Libyans as the foundation for overcoming the current challenges. He stressed that Libya is facing a deep political crisis that has weakened state institutions and affected their ability to serve citizens effectively.

Haftar emphasised that the solution must be rooted in a purely national approach determined by the Libyan people themselves, without external interference. “The people are the true sovereign authority and the only source of legitimacy,” he said.

The Commander-in-Chief urged Al-Zawiya’s elders and notables to play an active role in raising awareness among residents about the sensitivity of the current phase, prioritising the nation’s interests above all else. He underlined Al-Zawiya’s importance and influence in shaping Libya’s political landscape, asserting that the city cannot remain on the sidelines of national decision-making.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the need for unity and cooperation to secure Libya’s future and ensure the stability of its institutions.
