Libya’s national football team, the Mediterranean Knights, has climbed three places in the latest FIFA World Ranking, moving from 114th to 111th.
The rise comes after Libya’s 1– 0 friendly victory over Mauritania in Benghazi on November 15, a match played as part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming Arab Cup qualifiers.
According to the ranking update published on FIFA’s official website, Libya’s total points increased from 1177.77 to 1182.78, gaining 5.01 points following the narrow but important victory.
The result reflects gradual progress for the Mediterranean Knights as they continue preparations for their next competitive fixture, scheduled for 25 November against Palestine in the qualifiers for the Arab Cup.
The Libyan Football Federation welcomed the latest ranking improvement, noting that consistent positive results—particularly in friendly and regional competitions—remain essential for strengthening the national team’s international standing.
The team’s performance against Mauritania was especially significant as it marked another successful outing on home soil in Benghazi, where fans have played a strong role in motivating the squad.
On the global level, Spain remains in the top spot in the FIFA World Ranking. Their position was reinforced by securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a win over Georgia and a draw with Turkey in their final European qualifiers. Brazil achieved the most notable rise within the top ten, climbing two places to fifth and overtaking Portugal and the Netherlands, who slipped to sixth and seventh respectively.
Italy endured one of the biggest declines among top-ranked teams, dropping three places to twelfth after a heavy 4–1 home defeat to Norway.
Meanwhile, Croatia returned to the top ten, reclaiming a position among the world’s elite after a strong series of results in recent months.
