Libya’s National Development Agency has announced the opening of the final phase of the Musa bin Nusayr dual carriageway in the coastal city of Sirte, marking a significant step in improving urban mobility and public infrastructure.
In a statement, the agency said the newly completed section spans nine kilometres and was inaugurated in the presence of local community elders and representatives. The road includes two modern roundabouts designed to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer vehicle movement across key parts of the city.
Officials said the project will play a direct role in reducing congestion inside Sirte, particularly during peak hours, while improving access between residential areas and service zones. The dual carriageway is expected to shorten travel times and enhance overall road safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.
The agency described the Musa bin Nusayr road as a vital transport artery that supports daily economic and social activity, contributes to stability, and responds to the city’s growing urban expansion. The road is also seen as an essential link for emergency services, public transport, and commercial movement within Sirte.
The National Development Agency reaffirmed its commitment to advancing infrastructure projects across Libya, with a focus on upgrading road networks and enhancing the quality of public services. These efforts form part of the broader national development agenda aligned with Libya’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes sustainable growth, improved living standards, and long-term urban planning.
Infrastructure development has emerged as a central pillar of Libya’s recovery efforts, with road projects increasingly viewed as a foundation for economic revitalization and improved public safety in cities across the country.
