Libyan security authorities have detained a group of undocumented migrants during a security operation carried out in the city of Al-Qubbah, as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration and strengthen border control.

According to an official statement, the local branch of the Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration conducted an inspection campaign along the desert road near the Al-Nawwar checkpoint. The operation resulted in the arrest of several irregular migrants of different nationalities.

The Directorate confirmed that all necessary legal procedures were taken against those detained, in line with Libyan laws and regulations governing illegal migration. The migrants were referred to the relevant authorities to complete deportation procedures.

In a related development, the Directorate announced the deportation of 14 Egyptian nationals who were found to have violated Libya’s legal entry requirements. The individuals were repatriated through the Umm Saad land border crossing with Egypt, following officially approved legal procedures.

Libyan authorities have intensified security patrols and inspection campaigns in recent months, particularly in eastern and southern regions, amid growing concerns over irregular migration routes crossing the country. Officials say these measures aim to curb human trafficking networks, enhance public security, and regulate migration in accordance with national law.
