The Libyan Relief Agency has distributed humanitarian assistance to vulnerable groups in the eastern city of Ajdabiya, as part of ongoing efforts to ease living conditions for families facing economic and social hardship.
The aid operation was carried out under the instructions of the Chairman of the Libyan Relief Agency, Salem Bouzreida, and in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), reflecting continued cooperation between national institutions and international organisations operating in Libya.
According to official data, a total of 398 people benefited from the distribution. The assistance primarily targeted women and children, considered among the most vulnerable segments of society. The beneficiaries included 135 pregnant women and 137 breastfeeding mothers, alongside 243 children, comprising 96 girls and 147 boys.
The agency said the distribution forms part of a broader humanitarian response aimed at supporting families struggling with rising living costs and limited access to basic services. Ajdabiya, which serves as a key transit and residential city in eastern Libya, has witnessed growing humanitarian needs in recent years due to economic pressures and population movements.
Officials stressed that the partnership with the World Food Programme plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of aid and adherence to international humanitarian standards. The cooperation also helps strengthen local response mechanisms and improve the reach of assistance to those most in need.
The Libyan Relief Agency reaffirmed its commitment to expanding humanitarian operations across different regions of the country, with a focus on women, children, and low-income households. It added that similar initiatives are planned in other Libyan cities as part of a coordinated national response.
