Libya’s Coast Guard has rescued 45 Sudanese migrants, including two women and three children, after their boat was found drifting around 30 nautical miles north of the coast of Tobruk, according to an official statement.

The operation was carried out by the Libyan Coast Guard, which said the migrants were intercepted and safely brought ashore following the rescue mission in the Mediterranean.

After the operation, emergency first aid and basic medical assistance were provided to all rescued individuals. Authorities confirmed that the migrants were later referred to the relevant bodies to complete the required legal and administrative procedures in line with national regulations.

Libya remains a key transit point for irregular migration across the central Mediterranean route, with coastal authorities frequently conducting search-and-rescue missions amid ongoing humanitarian and security challenges at sea.
