On Saturday, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara is working with Malta to achieve stability and peace in Libya.

Cavusoglu held a joint press conference with his Maltese counterpart Evarist Bartolo, following their meeting at the Belek Tourism Centre, in the city of Antalya, southern Turkey.

Cavusoglu said that Turkey always supports unconditional dialogue on the eastern Mediterranean crisis. He also expressed his understanding of Malta’s concern about the current situation there by acknowledging that the deteriorating situation in Libya affects Malta before any European country.

Bartolo said that Malta sees Turkey as a crucial ally in its efforts to stem migration from Libya.

Cavusoglu stressed the need to accelerate the political process to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Libya and a solution that includes everyone, and then prepare for elections.
