Egypt and Libya reaffirmed what officials described as a shared strategic destiny during a high-profile session of the Egyptian parliament attended by Ageela Saleh, in a move widely viewed as a strong political message emphasizing coordination, regional stability, and rejection of foreign interference in Libyan affairs.
The parliamentary session went beyond a symbolic diplomatic meeting and reflected Cairo’s broader approach toward the Libyan crisis. Egyptian lawmakers stressed that Libya’s security and stability are directly connected to Egypt’s national security, particularly given the long shared border and the growing regional challenges linked to terrorism, migration, and economic instability.
During the discussions, Egyptian officials highlighted the deep historical and social ties between the two countries, describing Libya as part of Egypt’s strategic depth rather than simply a neighboring state. The statements underscored Cairo’s view that preserving Libya’s unity and stability remains essential for regional security across North Africa and the Mediterranean.
Egyptian parliamentarians also warned against external attempts to impose political solutions or reshape Libya’s internal balance through foreign agendas. Officials emphasized support for Libyan-led political solutions and backing for national institutions capable of protecting sovereignty and maintaining territorial unity.
The talks additionally focused on expanding institutional cooperation between both countries, particularly at the parliamentary and legal levels. Egyptian officials expressed readiness to provide legislative and constitutional expertise aimed at supporting Libya’s institutional development and strengthening state structures.
