Libya’s Commercial Registry Authority has unveiled plans to electronically link its digital platform with Libyan banks and relevant public institutions as part of a broader government initiative to accelerate digital transformation, improve public services, and enhance the business environment.

The initiative was discussed during an expanded meeting chaired by Commercial Registry Authority Chairman Mohamed Ben Katheer.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Minister of Economy and Trade, representatives from the ministry’s legal department, senior officials, and directors of the authority’s regional branches to review progress on the authority’s digital transformation program.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the discussions focused on the implementation of the Commercial Registry’s modernization strategy, with particular attention given to the development of an electronic connection between the registry, Libyan banks, and relevant public institutions.

The planned system is expected to enable the secure exchange of information and allow financial institutions and government agencies to instantly verify the legal status of companies registered in Libya.

Officials said that the project will improve the reliability of commercial records, accelerate administrative procedures, increase transparency, and facilitate business transactions.

Participants also reviewed ministerial decisions regulating commercial activities, professional licensing, and technical occupations. The meeting stressed the importance of implementing these regulations and proposed the formation of a legal committee to study the decisions and develop practical mechanisms for their enforcement.

Ben Katheer emphasized the need to complete the authority’s digital transformation by connecting all regional branches through a unified electronic platform.

He instructed branch offices to rely fully on the digital system when processing transactions, noting that the project has the support of the Minister of Economy and Trade and forms part of wider government efforts to simplify procedures and improve public services.

The meeting also addressed the preparation of quarterly performance reports, the completion of electronic archiving for company files, and stronger coordination between anti-money laundering units in regional branches and the authority’s Compliance Department to ensure full compliance with legal requirements.
