Four people were killed in an armed attack in the western Libyan city of Al-Zawiya after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle before it burst into flames, according to local media reports.
Local sources said the victims were inside the vehicle when attackers sprayed it with gunfire. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, killing all four occupants at the scene.
Three of the victims were identified as Mohammed Sarqan, Ali Al-Gallafat and Mohammed Al-Harari. The identity of the fourth victim had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding the circumstances of the attack or the identity of those responsible. Authorities have also not disclosed a possible motive, and no group has claimed responsibility for the assault.
The incident has prompted widespread shock and grief among residents of Al-Zawiya, with local calls for a full investigation to identify those behind the attack and bring them to justice.
The latest incident comes amid continuing security challenges in parts of Libya, where several cities have witnessed intermittent armed attacks, shootings and violent crimes targeting civilians and individuals linked to security and military institutions.
