On Wednesday, the spokesman of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, denied the involvement of Jordanian companies in circumventing the UN arms embargo on Libya.

Al-Fayez said that Med Wave Company, which the EU imposed sanctions on for violating the arms embargo, was not a Jordanian company, and is not registered in Jordan. He pointed out that a field inspection showed that there was another company using the claimed offices, which is a limited liability company. It has been closed since 2013.

Al-Fayez explained that the company belongs to two persons, one of whom is a Jordanian national, with the other being of undisclosed Arab nationality. The latter’s bankruptcy has been declared due to the existence of financial claims against him, and his properties were confiscated, Al-Fayez added. He pointed out that this person was facing financial claims and court rulings in Jordan, and that he is not currently residing in the country. Al-Fayez stressed that Jordan is fully committed to the UN ban on arms supplies to Libya.
