The Libyan Bar Association welcomed the role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in converging views between the Libyan negotiating parties. At the same time, the association warned of the consequences of interfering with the judicial authority. It made it clear that such authority must be characterized by impartiality and independence.

In a statement, the Libyan Bar Association expressed its surprise at the dialogue sessions that took place in Morocco, including the ideological and regional quota system that affected all financial, judicial, and supervisory institutions The association stressed the need to confront these interventions, as they contravene all laws, international charters, and norms.

It also confirmed that the only way to protect rights and freedoms, and build a state of law and institutions, is through the independence of the judiciary, its power, and integrity.
