Greece Warns of “threatening” Turkish Actions

The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has demanded that the European Union ends its arms sales to Turkey. He claimed that “the transfer of Syrian mercenaries to Libya through Turkey represents a threat to the region. Turkey’s excesses not only affect the interests of Greece and Cyprus, but also the European Union.”

This came during the press conference of the tripartite summit between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece, in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia. The Greek PM said that Turkey’s actions blatantly violate international laws and threaten regional security. He stressed that Egypt plays a major role in the region and is an important factor for stability in the Mediterranean.

Mitsotakis added, “The Turkish leadership is an injustice to its people, with its provocations and continuous violations in the region.” He thanked Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, expressing his hope for greater cooperation between the three countries.
