The head of the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG), Major General Naji Al-Maghribi, announced that the PFG would be securing the entire Gulf of Sirte oil fields. Al-Maghribi pointed out that his forces conduct daily reconnaissance patrols to counter any threat from extremist groups.

In a telephone interview with the Al-Arabiya news channel, Al-Maghribi said that the PFG’s operation rooms continuously follow up with all its units deployed across the country.

Al-Maghribi added that they have fully secured the oil facilities and stressed that “the number of PFG members is sufficient to provide full security for the Gulf of Sirte.”
