On Sunday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, has reiterated Egypt’s support for Kuwait’s security and stability in light of current regional challenges.

During a meeting in Kuwait City with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Ahmad al Nasser al Sabah, Shoukry termed Gulf security as “a redline”, stressing the need for continued coordination between the two countries to face common challenges, topped by terrorism.

He stressed the importance of continuing political consultation between the two countries at various levels, in light of the destructive regional interventions witnessed by many Arab countries.

The two top diplomats also discussed the latest regional developments, especially the situation in Libya, where Egypt supports political solutions, respecting the sovereignty and unity of Libya’s territories as well as committing to a ceasefire in the war-torn country.

On his part, Sheikh Ahmad praised the Egyptian efforts to stabilize the situation in Libya in accordance with its declared positions and the lines it has drawn, which have decisively helped in making progress towards restoring stability and security in the country.

The two top diplomats agreed that the 13th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti ministerial committee be held in Cairo in early 2021, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
