French President Emmanuel Macron will host his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, next Monday. The two heads of state are due to discuss the crises in the Middle East, Turkey, Libya, and the eastern Mediterranean.

El-Sisi will start a two-day visit to Paris on Sunday and will also meet with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Egyptian Presidency noted.

According to the Elysée Palace’s statement, El-Sisi’s visit follows Macron’s trip to Cairo in January 2019. “The visit aims to strengthen relations between Paris and Cairo, who is a strategic partner for stability in the Middle East,” the French statement noted.

Egypt and France both reject Turkey’s intervention in Libya and in the eastern Mediterranean. Cairo and Paris support the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA), while Ankara supports the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).
